You'll find lots of crunchy deconstructionists who think this way, and many of them think they're more spiritual for it:

"Christianese" is good, actually. It is how we revere our Creator. We actually need more of it, not less.
The problem with modern American worship songs is not that they use reverential, biblical language to extol God and praise Him for his holiness, righteousness, power, and lordship. The problem is that they water down praise to a song that's indistinguishable from a love song to a boyfriend/girlfriend and often centered on our experience instead of God.
It's great that Brandon says he wants "to get" to a place where every eye is on God, "just vertical."
But there's a purposeful reduction built in to his equation at the start.
We are singing to the God who alone dwells in unapproachable light, who is an all-consuming fire, who will judge the living and the dead, who we are to reverentially fear and respect ... and we reduce that to:
