Reporting live from the sidelines of politics, I hereby report that former sports reporter Michele Tafoya has filed paperwork to run for U.S. Senate as a Republican in Minnesota.
Best known for her NFL sideline reporting and interviews -- and more recently her podcast -- Tafoya weighed the decision for a few months and made the announcement today that she is running for Senate.
The seat now up for grabs in Minnesota currently belongs to Senator Tina Smith, who announced her retirement in February.
Michele Tafoya is a self-described pro-choice Republican, an oxymoron of sorts, though this could help her win votes in Minnesota.
Another sports name is in the mix on the Republican side as former NBA player Royce White, who ran for Senate last year, will once again throw his hat in the ring.
