Hey! How about some good news for your week?
Yes, the TSA has quietly decided that they will no longer make everyone remove their shoes to go through security at the airport anymore.
No more stinky feet. No more putting your bare feet on that nasty floor. Faster TSA times.
The security theater (in part, at least) is ending.
From The Mirror US:
The sweeping policy will pertain to all US airports and passengers who possess Real-ID-compliant documents, despite whether or not they are enrolled in TSA PreCheck. The updated identification requirements officially went into effect in late May ...
The shoes rule change may quell passengers' frustrations that have persisted for years, including inconsistent airport experiences, lengthy wait times in security lines and certain screening procedures. The decision was driven in part by technological advancements and a thorough reassessment of threat-level risks.
Man, if we knew that Real-ID was a tradeoff to get rid of the shoe rule, I think people would have gotten on board with it a lot earlier.
As for the tech advancements, they can just scan your feet for bombs now.
Hey, it's a tradeoff. And if it means I don't have to smell your disgusting foot odor and see other people's nasty feet while in line at TSA, then I view this as win.
The next step: Allowing people to bring liquids in bottles larger than 3.4 fluid ounces too!
