Your feel-good story for this week comes from Iowa (believe it or not), where a 1-year-old baby boy was awarded the Guinness Book of World Records title for being the most prematurely born baby to survive after being born in July 2024 at just 21 WEEKS OF GESTATION.
As reported by the New York Post, the new little champ, Nash Keen, was born on July 5, 2024 (133 days before his mother, Mollie, was due to give birth), weighing in at just 10 OUNCES at the time.
Nash's early arrival into the world came after Mollie's 20-week prenatal checkup, where she found out she was already 2 centimeters dilated.
She went into labor days later.
In a blow to abortion rights activists everywhere who argue about the "viability" of such "clumps of cells," little Nash has now passed his first birthday and continues to thrive.
'Nash is so full of personality,' his mom, Mollie, told the Associated Press Wednesday.
'Being in the NICU as long as he was, you'd think that he would be, you know, more fragile and stuff. And he's not. He's a very determined, curious little boy, and he's just all smiles all the time,' the doting mother said.
Nash won the "world's most premature baby" by beating out the previous record holder by just one day, and despite using a feeding tube and receiving supplemental oxygen to help him breathe, continues to hit his developmental benchmarks.
When Nash was born, he had no body fat and his skin was extremely fragile. He fit in the palm of his mother's hand.
But he kept fighting, and his dad and mom were there every step of the way.
Look at this champ now!!
All that hard work is paying off, Nash.
Carry that world record like a boss.
