Well, not at Cracker Barrel, but elsewhere we are returning to normalcy.
Yes, for the first time since I honestly can't remember, a fast food joint is slashing prices on their food.
McDonald's has had a shaky few months this year and have decided to return to what they do best: Offering cheap food to the masses.
From Fox Business:
McDonald's franchisees will cut the cost of combo meals to revive the chain's image as an affordable option at a time when many consumers are keeping a close eye on their wallets.
After weeks of discussions, McDonald's and its U.S. franchisees agreed to keep the cost of eight popular combo meals 15% lower than if the items were bought separately, according to company materials seen by The Wall Street Journal. The company promised to provide financial support if the franchisees agreed to the change, people familiar with the matter told the Journal.
I mean, what's wild to me that I always assumed the point of the combo was to buy all the items - burger, fries, drinks - all together in a combination so that I save a buck or two.
Apparently they've just been adding the price of each individual item together for a while now, which is wild. So, I'm glad to see them cut back on the prices.
And corporate is promising to cover the difference for the individual franchisees trying to get by. It sounds like a win-win-win to me.
A $5 breakfast and $8 Big Mac and McNugget combo meal special will also run later this year, with the company advertising them as Extra Value Meals ...
The company also said its local franchisees were launching their own special deals on items such as the McGriddle and app-exclusive offers like 20% off $10 or more.
(Pro tip: If you eat at McDonald's regularly and you're not using the app you are missing out)
I'm sure the fast food chain is now energized by one of their recent employee's stirring things up.
Things will be rolling for the clown and co. if they can get the word out about the price cuts!
Now just bring back the Dollar Menu!
