Of course The New York Times ran this story:
And of course they had to correct it.
But look how they did it:
This kid, bless his heart, was the poster child for "Gaza is starving" over the past week, and it turns out it was a flat-out lie.
You do not hate the media enough!
I'll quote The New York Times:
Mohammed Zakaria al-Mutawaq, who is about 18 months old and was born during the war, lives with his mother and brother in a tent on a Gaza beach.
Mohammed's mother, Hedaya al-Mutawaq, 31, said the toddler's father was killed last October when he went out to seek food.
Mohammed, according to his doctor, had pre-existing health problems affecting his brain and his muscle development. But his health deteriorated rapidly in recent months as it became increasingly difficult to find food and medical care, and the medical clinic that treated him said he suffers from severe malnutrition.
'I look at him and I can't help but cry,' she said.
Doesn't have quite the same ring to it now that they got caught stretching the story to fit their narrative.
Of course, The Times wasn't the only newspaper guilty of this. Outlets across the Western world used this boy as a prop to support an agenda.
If Israel does something dumb/immoral, call them out. But report the facts.
Reporting lies actually hurts the efforts to hold Israel accountable!
Trump wasn't afraid to criticize Israel's prime minister last week when the latter claimed there was no issue with starvation in Gaza. But then the media lies and it undermines any effort to find the truth.
Maybe if the media spent more time doing actual journalism, we'd be more informed as to where all the food is going in Gaza.
I'll leave you with this from Speaker Mike Johnson 👇
