Remember this?
A mob decided to take over a few blocks of an affluent Queens neighborhood for general shenanigans. They beat up homeowners who told them to clear off, and then started burning stuff.
As the anarchy escalated, dozens of locals started calling 911, but according to the NY Post, they were told to call "311" for the NYPD's "Quality of Life Team."
And what is the QUALITY OF LIFE TEAM, you ask?
Apparently, it's a new NYPD initiative designed for "enhancing trust between communities and police."
From the website:
These 'Q-Teams' will focus on non-emergency 311 and 911 concerns, such as abandoned vehicles, noise complaints and illegal parking. Teams will also continue to nurture the relationships that were built with businesses and local community.
The NYPD did eventually show up after the perps had cleared out and the car was burnt to a crisp.
An NYPD spokesperson apologized for the slow response time:
'The 109 [Precinct] covers a large geographical area, and this was a busy Saturday night,' the department said in a statement. 'At the time of the incident in question, other units from the 109 were handling multiple priority jobs, including an arrest for an individual who was driving intoxicated, transporting someone to the hospital, an assault, and a vehicle collision with injuries.'
The police force in Gotham can't keep up with crime, but the city just elected a socialist who hates cops and private property!!
