Unless the Democrats want to run Kamala Harris again in 2028, this could be your candidate on the Left.

Except he did say, "We should be empowering communities, and organizations, and schools to make the right decision."
Translation: If California, Washington, Oregon, Maine, New York, Illinois, or even cities and towns in red states want to allow males to play in women's sports then so be it -- live and let live.
An answer which is going to have to change over the next three years as woke witnesses it's wake and society goes back to normal under the second Trump administration.
I'm not at all saying that Democrats should change their stance here. By all means, go for it! I'm sure it'll be a winning strategy to cling to an ideology which died a few years ago and is never coming back.
For the record, before this clip, when NPR's Steve Inskeep asked Mayor Pete about trans people in general, Buttigieg said we have to take "seriously" the parents of girls who are "going to be competing with boys," though it's not clear if he means trans-identifying boys.
So that's at least something for the Democrats...
