More from Axios, which says the CEO Andy Byron and HR head Kristin Cabot have been put on leave, pending an investigation.
Between the lines: Both Byron and Cabot were immediately put on leave, according to a source familiar with the situation.
The company's delayed response has been due in part to Byron's slow resignation and exit package negotiations, another source told Axios.
In the meantime, it took the company more than 24 hours to issue even the simplest 'we are investigating the matter' holding statement.
If you sit on the board for a company, now might be the time to plan for a communications strategy if your CEO and "chief people officer" get caught cheating ... and become a viral internet meme.
