Can you spot the problem with this chart?

This sentence right here:

Prices are higher than they were on July 2024 all in major categories listed below.

I would say an AI must have written that sentence, but AI is better at conjugation.

It had to be someone with an advanced degree. You know that's true because of the chart they included with their claim.

Note the dates of the rapidly rising prices.

2021 - 2024

This begs the question: who was president then?

The post on X was quickly deleted when their error was pointed out, but the internet is forever.

While you're here though, we can talk about a few of those prices. Beef is definitely at an all-time high right now.

Currently, ground beef is up to $6.12 per pound. The Associated Press says that's thanks to a drought that forced ranchers to reduce herd size.

Then in 2020, a three-year drought began that dried out pastures and raised the cost of feed for cattle, according to the American Farm Bureau. Drought has continued to be a problem across the West since then, and the price of feed has put more pressure on ranchers who already operate on slim profit margins.

In response, many farmers slaughtered more female cattle than usual, which helped beef supplies in the short term but lowered the size of future herds. Lower cattle supplies have raised prices.

Don't forget the meat industry promised us in 2022 that this was coming. 👇

The good news is that the drought is over, and that means at some point, herd size will increase again.

Whether that means we'll ever be able to afford a burger again remains to be seen.

Eggs at least have gone down in price since the Biden kill-off, so that's something?
