At fast enough speeds, anything becomes an airfoil.

The Freedom One Racing team took their boat to all new heights during the annual Lake Havasu speedboat competition on Saturday in Arizona — 30 feet high to be specific, with a full 360-degree flip at 200 miles per hour.

Steve Ticknor, president of the company that runs the event, said the boat was participating in a contest to see which vessel could race the course the fastest. He said divers were on hand and responded to the crash within 20 seconds.

He described the relief of seeing both people on board the boat pop open the hatch. "Oh my gosh, it's just a miracle," Ticknor said.

Freedom One Racing also released a video on Facebook announcing that everyone was okay.

The boat was a twin-hull Skater designed to rise up above the water and hydroplane. However, it turns out that gusty winds are not a hydroplaning boat's friend.

Remarkably, the Freedom One Racing team did cross the finish line while they were flying through the air, and their boat was clocked with the highest speed of the day.

Worth it?
