This right here is the saddest thing you'll see all day.
Maybe the saddest thing you'll see in your life.
Anchor: What does remembrance Sunday mean to you? What is your message?
Vet: My message is, I can see in my mind's eye, rows and rows of white stones, all the hundreds of our friends that gave their lives, for what? The country today? No, I'm sorry, the sacrifice wasn't worth the result that it is now.
Anchor 2: What do you mean by that, now?
Vet: What we fought for was our freedom. Even now it's a damn sight worse than what it was when I fought for it.

This man laid his life on the line to fight Hitler. To fight Nazi Germany. He lost untold numbers of friends in that fight. He still sees the endless rows of gravestones with their names.
And yet he says the condition of Britain today is worse than ever. He sees freedom slipping away, perhaps forever.
Respect for this patriot who gave it his all.
