Finding human remains under water otter be a lot easier for Martin County deputies now that they have Splash on the team.

Splash is a two-year-old Asian otter with the ability to smell under water, so it can dive into the murky depths to find human remains that are undetectable to humans or K9 units.

Florida's gators tend to take cadavers down to the bottom of the swamps and stash them there for later, and the silt is so thick, people can't see while swimming in them.

According to CBS12, Splash is pretty good at finding bodies. He's found four over the last year.

The cadaver otter is so good in fact that his trainer Michael Hadsell, Founder of Peace River Search and Rescue says,

I could probably stay out 52 weeks out of the year and just keep working. So we're going to need another otter to help with the call volume.

And he plans to train another otter next year.

He also says there may or may not be a TV show in the making by the name of Law and Otter.
