AI glasses are going to be spectacular -- they really are. But yesterday at the annual Meta Connect conference, they were anything but.
Here, as part of a demonstration at the conference, Zuck spoke via video chat to food influencer Jack Mancuso, who was to use Meta AI and the company's new Ray-Ban Display glasses to help him mix a steak sauce.
It did not go well:

Yeah, it's the WiFi, Zuck!
It gets worse. In the next segment, Zuckerberg attempts to make a video call using the smart Ray-Bans and a neural wristband.

Not a good look, but these things do happen!
All of this after Zuckerberg took personal control over Meta's AI division earlier in the year.
Either way, I'm still excited for the smart glasses (mostly because I'm starting to get sore in the neck from looking at my phone).
A little bit about the new glasses from CNBC:
The glasses, which costs $799, contain a small digital display that can be controlled via hand gestures through a wristband powered by neural technology ...
With the new glasses, people can do tasks like watch videos through the display or see and respond to text messages, Zuckerberg said. The display doesn't block a person's view, and it disappears when not being used, he said.
The glasses go on sale in the U.S. on Sept. 30.
And a promo vid:
If you're interested in these glasses, just make sure you've got some good WiFi at home!
